Adopting A Dog
Adopting a dog or animal is something very special that all should do
at one time or another,
dogs are such wonderful companions and they will take care of you if
you take
care of them. Before adopting any pets make sure that you are able to
care for your new pet, pets
are just like human beings, they require attention and they need to be
attended to.
You need to be ready emotionally and financially when adopting a dog,
these guy do not talk and do get
sick at times and you have to have enough money for vet visits which
can be very expensive at times, dogs need to
be fed food that is healthy and they need to be taken for a walk at
least once to twice a week.
If you are ready to adopt a dog then go to your local dog pound and
take a look
at all the great dogs that need a home, these guys want to live with
you and be your
best friends, every time i go to the pound i want to adopt all of them
and give them all a place
to live, dogs are such amazing creatures and it is too bad that some
folks just don't understand that.
Once you get to the pound look at all the dogs that you have interest
in adopting, go by their
cages and say hello to these guys and see which one you like
best, after finding one that you like, go and ask one of the
workers if that dog has been adopted already? Yes, let me tell you this
much, after my first dog passed one, i went to the pound
and found a dog that i wanted and they told me that she wasn't adopted
and come back tomorrow. I came back the next day
and they told me that she was already adopted, this mess made me not
too happy.
After finding out that a dog is not adopted, tell the worker that you
would like to play with that dog and
see how you guys get along, this is very important, this is the first
interaction between you and your potential dog, do remember
that this dog right now is very scared and desperate, and he or she
will not 100% be at their natural reactions and emotions.
Try to be as kind as you can be and try to play with the dog, but
becareful not to want to pet or touch the animals because it can bite
you,
these dogs don't know you yet and they might bite.
After you decided on taking your chosen pet, tell the worker that this
is the one you want, they will make you sign
some papers and want a commitment from you that you shall take care of
this pet, after signing the papers and paying your low fee, they will
keep the dog and send
it to a place where your pet will be neutered or spayed, this is the
procedure for all pet adoptions.
When i got my new dog she was kept for 5 days and then after she was
spayed i was able to
pick her up and bring her to my new house.
If you have other dogs make sure that they do not scare your new dog,
kinda keep them
away at first and let them slowly become friends, if one of the other
dogs is being aggressive to your new pet,
make sure to keep them away from eachother and make sure to supervise
their play time. Try to have some toys for the
new dog to play with, they can get bored very easily and if you do not
have a toy for them, then your couch, phone and other stuff
can become their new toy.
Put a large bowl of water and food for your pets to eat and drink from,
i feed my dogs the healthiest food possible,
you need to make sure that you feed these guys good food and not
supermarket food which is not all that healthy for them,
go to your chain pet food supermarket and ask for the healthiest dog
food they have and buy it, these types of food are good
for keeping your dog healthy.
You need to make an appointment asap and see a vet so your new dog can
go for his or her
first check up and they will need to get some shots which all new dogs
and puppies get when they visit a vet.
Take your new dog for their first walk around the neighborhood, watch
as their tails wiggle with excitement
and they really do thank you for adopting them and making them part of
your family.
Adopting a dog is such a wonderful thing, just remember that this a
commitment that you must make,
don't adopt a dog on a emotion, you need to be sure that you want a
dog, i value all my dogs and they were the best choice i
ever made!
